Life and Death in New Jersey

1902

This is an example of visual and conversational poetry laced with whimsical comedy inside a world constructed of dream-logic.

The narrator watches parts of his life amid the offerings of television. Work, war and the memory of his father compete with an obscure romantic obsession. The television programming within the work adds a 'back-story' in which early mythology and literature are sometimes inhabited by modern persons. This back story represents the narrator’s view of the history of civilization as cobbled together from idiosyncratic TV documentaries. Some viewers will want to see this one again. Original songs by the derelicts and Fire Axe brothers. Some nudity.

"It was December, I think, --I watched television endlessly...and thought about my Dad..."
